Funeral services to celebrate the life of Donna Gale Cothran, 79, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Burial to follow the service at Gardens of Memory, 211 Murrell Street, Minden, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jeff Scott.
Gale was born on September 22, 1943, in Monroe, Louisiana, to James A. Smith and Vera Cook Smith. She passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Gale was an enrolled agent with the IRS. She was married to the love of her life Robert Michael Cothran for 32 years. Her hobbies included crochet, quilting, and growing roses. She loved dogs and was a huge Star Wars fan and Dallas Cowboys fan. In her free time, she enjoyed reading. Gale was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed.
Gale is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, James Donald Smith. She is survived by her husband, Robert Michael Cothran; daughters, Donna Tippen, Denise Jennings, and Cheryl Jennings; son, Tommy Tippen; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Avery and Barbara Smith; and brother, Steve Smith and Ray Smith.
Honoring Gale as pallbearers will be Zac Funderburk, Robert Teague, Eric Davidson, Dean Wright, Samuel Muze, and Chad Avery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
