A memorial service for Donna Fritz, 89, of Dickinson, formerly of Belfield will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with Pastor Dawn Busch officiating.
Donna passed away Friday, May 10, 2024 at St. Benedicts Health in Dickinson.

Donna Kay was born February 23, 1935 to Don and Verna (Smith) Hafele the second oldest of five siblings. She was raised in Slope County near Sand Creek in the Pines area near the Little Missouri River. She attended country school at Bullion View and Ranger Schools, and was also homeschooled by her mother. She graduated from New England High School in 1953. Donna went on to State Teachers College in Dickinson where she earned her teaching certificate. She began teaching at country schools in the Slope County area. She married James Fritz on September 8, 1956 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield. To this union two children were born, Joe and Rose. The couple started farming and ranching on their own by purchasing the Henry Paasch Ranch twelve miles south of Fryburg. She was an active Fryburg 4-H leader. Donna and Jim ranched side by side for over 50 years before moving to Hawks Point in 2011. She loved her home at Hawks Point and she cherished the many heart-warming friendships she made over the years. Donna grew up loving horses and continued loving them her entire life. She loved art and music, and taught guitar lessons for many years. Donna will be remembered as being a teacher at heart, always caring, and wanting to help those around her.
Donna is survived by her son, Joe (Shannon) Fritz of Beach; and daughter, Rose (Wayne) Krebs of Belfield; sister, Marion Spethman of Powderly TX; brother, Pete Hafele, of Newell SD; sister-in-law, Donna Hafele Loveland CO; six grandsons: Eli (Patty) Krebs of Thompson, ND, Levi (Danielle) Krebs of New England, ND, Miles (Kristi) Krebs of Hawley, MN, Tyler Krebs, Jade (Breann) Krebs both of New England, and Avery Krebs of Fargo; eleven great-grandchildren: Faith, Colton, Garrett, Layton, Wyatt and Weston Krebs, Liam, Milo, Haddie and Ava Krebs, Jaxx Krebs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by, her parents, Don and Verna; husband, James Fritz; sister, Marie Morris; brothers, Joe and Louis Hafele.
