Betty W. Moody, age 94, of Knoxville, TN, was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday, August 2, 2025. Born on February 10, 1931, she had prayed that God would grant her a mind that would always be sharp and He gave her the answer to her prayer – she consistently knew that her body was giving out and she was always included in the decisions that needed to be made for any needs.
Betty was a faithful member of Branville Baptist Church where she was the pianist for 40+ years. During her working years, she was employed by Standard Knitting Mills for 36 years until the mill closed; and then employed by Quality Soap and Chemical Company until her late husband's health required her full attention. Even then, her employer brought his financial books to her for their monthly closing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Moody; parents, Cleo and Howard Walker; and siblings, William (Bill) Walker, George (Junior) Walker, Kermit Walker, Eulen Walker and Agnes Walker Hipsher.
Betty leaves behind her daughter, Donna Barnard (Ron) Calfee; grandsons, Kevin (Shannon) Barnard, Mark Barnard and Donald Barnard; great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Alex Barnard, Meagan Barnard (Colby) Wolfenbarger and Sophia Barnard; one great-great-granddaughter, Madalynn Wolfenbarger; extra grandsons, Matthew (also her nurse during the last several months), Jeremy and Nathan Calfee; several cousins, nieces and nephews; a multitude of friends from her church and workplaces and more recently at Wellington Manor Assisted Living where she resided for a short time.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Bridges Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM, with Pastor Steve Brasher and Dr. Chris Stanfield officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 PM on Thursday at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery for a 1:00 PM graveside service.
