Donna Jean Furlong

Donna Jean Furlong of Golden Living Center, Frederick, MD and formerly of Youngstown, passed away at 7:19 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2010. She was 78 years old. Donna was born August 7, 1932, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Daniel and Helen (Krueger) Stirk. Donna was a devoted mother, and her life interests were her family and friends. She was an avid supporter of her sons while they participated in sports in Austintown/Youngstown area. Donna worked at Isaly’s dairy in the 1950s, in retail sales in the 60s and 70s, and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in 80s and 90s. She retired in 1996 and relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Her husband, Donald Furlong, whom she married January 25, 1958, died January 29, 1962. Donna leaves four sons, Joseph (Karen) of Austintown OH, Daniel (Angela) of Frederick MD, Donald (Lisa) of Chesapeake VA and Douglas (Pamela) of Myrtle Beach SC; eleven grandchildren, Lisa, Michelle, Brandon, Callie, Dana, Caitlin, Paige, Elise, Chance, Connor and Roanan; six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, Olivia, Matthew, Noah and Jackson; and one brother, Daniel Stirk of Youngstown OH. Besides her husband and parents, Donna was preceded in death by her two sisters, Dolores Vitko and Mary Haddle. Calling hours for Donna Jean will take place on Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 1 until 3 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave, Austintown, Ohio, 44515. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and the aids at Golden Living Center - Frederick, Frederick Memorial Hospital and Frederick Hospice for all the love, support, and superior care given to Donna while she lived in the Frederick, Maryland area.
