Donna Gaston

1935 - 2025

Donna (Amato) Gaston passed away suddenly on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, in Jefferson Hills Hospital. She was born in Pittsburgh to the late Alfred (Fred) and Catherine (Senchak) Amato on Feb. 5, 1935. She was married to the late Alois Gaston, and together they raised four children who survive: Lorraine Schmidt (the late Charles), Rock Hill, SC; Gary Gaston (the late Carmela), Tarentum; Mark (Sharon) Gaston of Frazer Township; and Natalie Gaston, Jefferson Hills and former daughter in law Kathy Toscolani, of Lower Burrell; grandchildren, include Katie (Tyler) Caskey, Kara Schmidt, Mary Elizabeth Gaston, Joshua (Madison) Gaston, Emily Gaston, and Ashleigh (Ryan) Solomon; and 10 great-grandchildren, including Victoria Schmidt, Carson Caskey, Kadyn Caskey, Si Caskey, Rylie Solomon, Dylan Solomon, Elliott Solomon, Logan Gaston, Lyla Gaston, and Lily Gaston. Preceding her in death, along with her parents, was her loving brother Alfred A. Amato. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Donna graduated from Westinghouse High School in June 1952 and worked in the secretarial field for United Artists. Afterwards she returned to work as a nurse aide for Allegheny Valley Hospital for 30 years. Donna spent many years devoted to caring for her late mother, Catherine, and Uncle Nick as a loving daughter and niece. Donna was a cherished mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, loyal friend, caring daughter, and strong maternal head to her large family over her many years of life. Donna always enjoyed friends, family, and fun. She experienced life through music (jazz), parties, card games (euchre), family affairs, and traveling. She will be sorely missed, always loved and cherished but never forgotten by all who appreciated her loving kindness. God bless and keep you always.
