Donna Guyette Obituary

Donna Guyette

March 28, 1936 - November 23, 2025

Donna Rae (Hayman) Guyette, 89, of Grand Island, Neb., died Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Tabitha at Prairie Commons in Grand Island, Neb.

Donna was born March 28, 1936, to Stephen (Tynn) and Ruth (Rank) Hayman in Grand Island, Neb.

She married Bill Beau Guyette on March 1, 1955, in Alexandria, Va. They lived there a short time before moving to Seward, Neb., and eventually settling in Grand Island, Neb. Upon moving to Seward Donna became a licensed beautician and had her own chair and also served as a beautician to the residents at the Wood River Good Samaritan Home where her mother was a resident. She continued that work upon arriving in Grand Island. After a few years in Grand Island, Donna went to work with her husband as the secretary and bookkeeper at Island Glass Company, her husband's family business. Upon her husband's death, she continued to run the business with her three sons until the day she retired.

Donna was an avid bowler. She bowled multiple leagues every week. She traveled 49 times to Nebraska Women's State and often attended the Women's National Tournaments across the country with all of her bowling friends and even some family.

After retiring Donna enjoyed fishing off of her deck and hosting her children and her large extended family at her home on Ponderosa Lake. She could often be found working on her landscaping, putting out her fishing line, or watching the young ones splash in the lake.

She is survived by her three sons, John and Lyn Guyette of Grand Island, Beau and Andrea Guyette of Maui, Tony and Susie Guyette of St. Libory, and two daughters, Mrs. Billie (Dale) Grothen of Hastings and Bobbie Guyette of Omaha. She is also survived by 13 grandkids, 18 great-grandkids, and four great great-grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her seven brothers and one sister.

A private family graveside service will be held at Westlawn Cemetery on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Public Celebration of Life will be held on March 28, 2026, with additional details to follow.

All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Yesterday

Aunt Donna got me through the darkest period of my life after my dad was killed in 1962. Putting aside her own grief at the death of her brother, she took me and the rest of my brothers and sisters under a loving wing until our own mother was strong enough to resume our care. But of course it didn't end there, she was a pillar of support through all the family tragedies; always there with hug, a shoulder to cry on or words of encouragement. I love you my dear aunt and I'll never forget you. Rest in piece
