Donna Gene Hendricks, 78, of Apopka, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025. Born on July 18, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to John and Helen Sullivan, Donna's early life took a new direction when her family moved to Hialeah, Florida, where her father worked as a glass door glazer. She attended Pace Catholic High School.
From a young age, Donna showed a passion for dance, beginning with Irish step-dancing and later embracing square dancing alongside her life partner and husband, Dewey Hendricks. Donna's creativity extended to her talents as an incredible seamstress and her lifelong love for elephants.
Donna and Dewey's love story began at a Halloween costume party in Hialeah in 1968, culminating in their marriage on May 9, 1970. They built a beautiful family, welcoming two sons: Brian Keith Hendricks (born August 12, 1972) and Dean Alexander Hendricks (born August 25, 1973). Their family grew with the addition of daughters-in-law Beth and Georgia, and grandchildren Emily, Anna, Daniel, Elouise, Abraham, Dahlia, Sarah Mae, Eliot, and Wyatt.
After relocating to Deltona in 1975, Donna dedicated herself to supporting her family and community. She served as Principal's secretary at Enterprise Elementary, valuing the chance to be close to her boys. Later, she embraced a new role at Dewey's growing business, Dewey's Just Vettes, where her dedication and love helped the business flourish. Donna and Dewey relocated to Apopka, FL in 2008 and have lived there ever since.
Donna's warmth, dedication, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Memorial service details will be shared with family and friends privately.
