Obituary for Donna Catherine Hine-Langley
May 7, 1939 – November 19, 2025

Donna Catherine Hine-Langley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by her family and those who loved her dearly. She passed peacefully, wrapped in the same love she spent her entire life giving so generously to others.

Born in Flemington, West Virginia, Donna was the daughter of Daniel Randolph, a coal miner, and Victoria Catherine, a devoted homemaker. Though Donna's early years held profound hardship - including the loss of her mother and time spent in fifty-two documented foster homes alongside her sister Betty (aka "Jo") - Donna's spirit remained unbroken. It was during these difficult years that she developed the strength, compassion, and unshakeable faith that would become the foundation of everything she touched. Her life is a testament to resilience: not only surviving adversity, but transforming it into a deep well of love, empathy, and purpose.

As a young woman, Donna moved to California, where she began building the family she cherished above all else. She was a devoted mother to Shannon, Susie, and Frankie, pouring her heart into creating a home where her children felt safe, supported, and deeply loved. She later settled in Clovis, California, where her faith blossomed. At her local First Free Will Baptist church, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior - a moment that brought her profound peace and guided her steps for the rest of her life.

Donna served faithfully in the Fresno Police Department's Records Division, where she became affectionately known as "Teletype Donna." She was admired for her strong work ethic and her steady, reassuring presence, a quiet pillar of the department whom coworkers rely on not only for her skill and dedication, but also her kindness, patience, and genuine care for others. Each Christmas, she decorated the lobby tree, a tradition her colleagues eagerly anticipated because it reflected her warmth, creativity, and joy in making others feel at home.

Donna had a gifted, creative soul. She poured love into everything she made - crocheted blankets, festive wreaths, beautiful crafts, and holiday meals that brought her family together year after year. Her home was a place of welcome, filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of recipes passed down with pride. Even when she didn't have much, Donna gave abundantly. She had a rare ability to make people feel seen, loved, and cared for, and she offered comfort freely, without hesitation. Her strength commanded respect, not through volume, but through the grace, dignity, and kindness that radiated from her.

In 2000, Donna married the love of her life, Wesley. Together they built a deeply joyful life, full of shared adventures and simple pleasures. They traveled to England, Germany, and France; enjoyed the East Coast; and visited family across the country. At home, they cherished breakfast outings to Sandy's, Carrow's, Seven, and the Rodeo Café, and they especially loved wandering through Old Town Clovis - browsing antique shops, Farmer's Markets, and local fairs. Their love was tender, steady, and uplifting, a blessing to both of them and an example of partnership to everyone around them.

Donna will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her incredible resilience, her radiance of spirit, and her boundless love for her family. She had a smile that lit up the room, an infectious laugh that drew others close, and a heart that never stopped giving. To know Donna was to be touched by her kindness - and changed by it.

Though she is deeply missed, her family rejoices knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the love she poured out, and the countless ways she made the world brighter. Donna is forever loved.

And now, at last, she is truly home.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Harold Randolph, Junior Norman, Daniel Edward, sister Ana Jean, and twin infant brothers Denzil Fay and Donald Ray; her son Shannon Lee Hine; and her granddaughter Brittany Shay Hine.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Wesley Langley; her daughter Susan Alday and husband Rufi, son Frank Hine; stepdaughters Jeanette Kuchar and husband Vic, Janice Marsh and husband Gary; and stepson Chuck Langley; her loving sisters, Barbara McCombs, Nona McCullough, and Betty Thacker; her grandchildren Andrea Basile and husband Michael, Daniel Kingen, Beau Hine, Caleigh Pouliot and husband Caleb, Noelle Hine, and Christopher Matthes and wife Heather, and great-grandson Christoph; and many other loving relatives.
