Donna Lea Holbein

1932 - 2025

Donna Lea Holbein, 93, of West Sunbury passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025.
Donna was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Butler, the daughter of the late Clarence Cranmer and Stella (Swope) Cranmer. She was the wife of the late William A. Holbein, whom she married on June 10, 1949.
As a homemaker, Donna was involved in both her community and church as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher at Rider Lutheran Church, and treasurer of Rider Church and the Unionville Grange. She was a longtime volunteer for the Butler Farm Show. Donna enjoyed building puzzles, traveling with her late husband William, playing cards and spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory, are her children, Susan (Jim) Bennett, William (Glenda) Holbein and Laura (Rick) Fleeger; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Lois Cranmer and Nancy Holbein; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Donna was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Holbein; her sister, Kathryn (Jimmy) Minehart; and two brothers, Ray (Pat) and Dale Cranmer.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Jennifer Cowan.
HOLBEIN - Friends of Donna Lea Holbein, who died Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.
Visitation also will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at the Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury. Her granddaughter, the Rev. Melissa Helfer of Trinity Lutheran Church in Westminster, Md., will officiate. Donna was instrumental in raising her granddaughter in the faith and supporting her call to ministry.
Interment will be in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, PA 16061.
