Donna Mae JoAnn Jones, age 84, of Willmar, passed away Saturday morning, September 30, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 6, at Calvary Lutheran Church. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Donna Mae JoAnn Jones was born on March 11, 1939, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Berger and Sylvia (Wallin) Nelson. She grew up in Cosmos and graduated from Cosmos High School in 1957. On March 14, 1959, Donna was married to Donnie Bob Jones and they made their home in Willmar. Besides working hard as a homemaker, Donna was employed for many years at the Bank of Willmar, Molenaar Plastics and Presbyterian Family Foundation, retiring at the age of 79. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. Donna enjoyed baking, cooking, shopping, camping, growing beautiful flower gardens and decorating her home for the holidays, especially at Christmas. She was also an avid sports fan of the Minnesota Vikings.
Donna will be best remembered for always having a smile on her face; her caring and generosity to others; her loyalty to family and friends; and keeping herself in style with all the latest fashions. Blessed be her memory!
She is survived by her four children, Debbie Petersen of Willmar, Dale (and JoAnn) Jones of Valley, NE., Darrin (and Kelly) Jones of Willmar and Dustan Jones of Willmar; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Marlene (and Elery) Schueler of Willmar and two brothers, Dennis (and Mary) Nelson of VA., and Gene (and Carol) Nelson of Bird Island, besides other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donnie Bob in 2000.
