Donna Moore Obituary

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Donna Fern Moore, a devoted Christian and homemaker, passed away on Friday December 12, 2025, at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital. Born on September 30, 1937, in Baxter, Tennessee, she led a life characterized by a gentle yet firm spirit, embracing her love for God, her family, her hobbies, and her community with unwavering dedication.

Donna's hobbies were reading, traveling, flowers, gardening and canning, passions that not only brought beauty and sustenance to her home but also served as outlets for her creativity and green thumb. She enjoyed sharing her many vegetables that she canned with her family and friends including her famous spicy dill pickles. Donna also embraced civic engagement, enjoying her time as a poll worker for the Dekalb County Election Commission, where she served her community with pride. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Donna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry Moore; her daughter, Deborah Maynard; and her siblings: Kenneth Montgomery, Marthena Allison, Oneda Waggoner, Minnie Sczech, Glenn Montgomery, and Sharrion Rhoten; and her beloved parents, Harvey L. Montgomery and Effie Ford Montgomery.

Her legacy lives on through her immediate family, including her son, Gary Moore (Coralee), daughters, Renee Burton (Terry) and Rosalind Sewell. Donna was a proud grandmother to Christopher Maynard (Brandy), Keith Maynard (Beverly), Jordan Carman (Gene), Cameron Robbins (Hayden) and Abigail Thomas. Her great-grandchildren, Kylie, Isabella, Ruby, Lilly, DJ, and Regina Maynard, as well as Harvey, Madden, and Collins Carman, will carry her spirit into the next generations.

A funeral service to honor Donna will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday December 17 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro Corey Price will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Donna will be laid to rest at Dobbs Cemetery.

Donna Moore’s life was a testament to the values of love, resilience, and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her warm spirit will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
