Donna Rose Pitts

Donna Rose Schomaker Pitts, age 70, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026. Born in New Orleans on August 16, 1955, she was the beloved daughter of the late Kateri and Robert Schomaker Sr.

Donna was a devoted and affectionate mother to her four children: David Pitts (Rebecca), Derek Pitts, Darah Hereford (Rodney Jr.), and Devin Pitts.

Donna's greatest joy in life was being "Grammy," a role she cherished deeply. She was a proud grandmother to Abigail and Charlotte Hereford; Chase, Bryce, and Reese Pitts; and Logan and Boston Sullivan. She loved spending time with them and had a large part in helping to raise them.

Donna is survived by her former husband of 29 years, David C. Pitts.

Donna was the cherished older sister of Robert Schomaker Jr. (Celia), Cathy Schomaker (Bryan), Billy Schomaker (Sharon), Cynthia Devenny (the late Joe), and Danny Schomaker.

She was a beloved Nanny to Dawn Rudiger (Ron), Bubba Hotard (Emily), Jason and Kyle Hotard, Amanda Schomaker (Andy), Dylan Devenny (Breanne), Chad Schomaker (Francesca), the late Rachael Schomaker, and Peyton Schomaker (Tyler).

A natural-born caretaker, Donna took great pride in her family and found true happiness in caring for those she loved. She was an avid gardener who delighted in nurturing even the most lifeless plants back to health. Donna also had a love for collecting antiques and "junk," always seeing beauty and potential in overlooked items, and she proudly ran a flea market that reflected her creativity, resourcefulness, and passion for preserving pieces of the past.

Donna will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren, and her memory will be cherished by family and friends for generations to come.
