Donna Puls

Donna J. Puls, 86, of Grinnell, died on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A prayer service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. John Epperson, chaplain of Grinnell Regional Hospice, officiating. The family will be present at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Should friends desire, memorial may be directed to the Iowa Federation of the Blind and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Donna was born on October 16, 1930, in Lamoni, Iowa to Arthur and Della Larison Maron. The family moved to Grinnell in 1938, and she graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1949. On December 26, 1949, she was married to Robert Puls in Grinnell. The couple farmed in the Grinnell area. Donna assisted her husband with the operation of the farm and later worked for Russ' Feed Company, Coast to Coast Hardware Store, Rags to Riches and the Ahrens Garden Center. Donna enjoyed family trips to Minnesota, golfing in Oakland Acres leagues, attending state and national bowling tournaments and was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan. She was a charter member of the Eagles Auxiliary and Past President of the Poweshiek County Women's Bowling Association and the ABWA. Donna is survived by her three nephews and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Dale Maron.
