Dodgeville – Donna "Kim" Roble, age 80, of Dodgeville passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Crestridge Memory Care in
Dodgeville, Wisconsin.
She was born July 27, 1945 to Donald and Myrna Vincent in
Dubuque, Iowa and grew up in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Kim's passion for music began when she started piano lessons and continued to grow when she attended Lancaster High School. She received music awards in band and choir performance at the UW-Madison Music Festival and was the recipient of the Arion Award at Lancaster High School. Kim also performed a high school piano recital at St. Clements and her college piano recital at UW-Platteville with twin sister Deanna "Kay" Vincent.
After high school, Kim attended UW-Platteville for her bachelor's degree in music education and once served as the librarian of the Interlochen Summer Music Festival. In college, Kim sang in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors and Handel's Messiah. She also accompanied the university choir and was a madrigal singer. Kim's first choir directing job was leading the Platteville United Methodist Church junior choir. After graduating, she moved to Dodgeville to begin a career in music education. On June 6,1970, Kim married Dan Roble, who was also teaching music in the Dodgeville School District, at the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Wisconsin. One special memory Kim and Dan shared was their travel to Europe with the UW-Platteville Wind Ensemble, where they visited eight countries and enjoyed the charming scenery, food, and music.
Kim was kind-hearted and compassionate to all she met, especially the elementary students in her classroom. Kim taught at Dodgeville Elementary School for 36 years, instilling a love of music in thousands of children through the years, always greeting them with her trademark smile. In her time at DES she led the students in 72 music programs, one each Christmas and one each spring. She lovingly planned and prepared for these programs, ensuring her students were at their best to perform for their families. In addition to teaching music to kindergarten through fourth grade students, Kim also accompanied the Dodgeville Middle School Choir for many years, which was directed by her close friend Charlene Mingst. The Robles were very fortunate to work with John and Charlene Mingst, Richard Burris, Mark Ramthun, Danelle Schmid, and Julie Harris for many years in the music department of the Dodgeville School District. Kim and Dan retired together from teaching in 2006.
Kim's love for music education also extended outside the Dodgeville School District. As members of the Dodgeville United Methodist Church, she and Dan were faithful members of the church choir. Kim served as the accompanist for the choir for over 40 years. Kim volunteered for many activities at the Dodgeville United Methodist Church and loved being a part of the United Methodist Women group. One of her favorite events to help with was the annual rummage and bake sale. She also led and enjoyed being the accompanist for the church's UMW Kitchen Band, a group who often played at nursing homes in and around Dodgeville. Kim also attended "Assembly" National Conference event for United Methodist Women in Columbus, Ohio in 2018.
Kim was a very proud member of the Chapter M of P.E.O. She joined on February 8, 1977 and remained a member until her death. Faithfully serving this organization for 49 years, she served as president of her P.E.O. chapter from 1994 to 1996, in addition to holding various other offices through the years. Kim enjoyed her sisterhood and friendships through P.E.O. She was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.
In retirement Kim continued playing piano by accompanying middle school and high school students for Solo-Ensemble and the Dodgeville United Methodist Church choir. She continued teaching piano lessons and held annual piano recitals for her students. Kim also enjoyed her time with the Iowa County Retired Educators and she held the office of treasurer for a few years.
Kim and Dan were married for 50 years before his passing in 2020. Together they raised two sons, Christopher and Matthew. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, always making sure her family was taken care of. One of her greatest joys in life was being a mother and a grandmother to her grandchildren, Allison and Emma. Kim always enjoyed time with family, traveling (especially to family in Green Bay and Door County), gardening, taking pictures, reading, and playing piano.
Kim was preceded in death by her husband Dan, her parents Donald and Myrna Vincent, stepfather George Johnson, sisters LaVon Scull, Ruth Currier, and her identical twin Deanna "Kay" Vincent, sister-in-law Hazel Krowas, brother-in-law Thomas Currier, and many special family members who were a part of her life.
She is survived by her sons Christopher (Angie) Roble of Green Bay and their daughters Allison and Emma, and Matthew Roble (Koreena Wood) of Wisconsin Dells; her niece Missy (Tim) Piper of Arkansas; her brother-in-law Herb Krowas of Sturgeon Bay; her nephews Chad (Darcey) Krowas and family of Appleton, and John (Nina) Krowas and family in San Francisco, California; her cousins Bev (Bill) Wages and family of Sturgeon Bay, Dallas (Helen) Croft and family in Fennimore, Gene Cliff and family of
Dubuque, Iowa, and Sally (Charles) Aurit and family of Mineral Point.
