Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton and Low Country Memorial GardensDonna Lee Stevenson of Bluffton, SC, passed away on September 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 25, 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Mary and Lawrence W. Ashton Sr.
For more than 30 years, Donna dedicated her career to healthcare, serving in roles from nursing to radiology across several orthopedic practices on Hilton Head Island. Her true calling, however, was caring for others—both in her professional life and in her community.
A devoted member of the Church of the Cross, Donna gave her time and heart to ministries such as the food bank and Caring Hearts, among many other programs that served the Bluffton community. Her faith was her guiding light, and her well-loved phrase, “Let go, let God,” reflected the grace and strength with which she faced life’s challenges.
Donna found joy in the simple but meaningful rhythms of life—tending to her home and landscaping, preparing home-cooked meals, and celebrating holidays and birthdays surrounded by her family. Her belief that “cleanliness was next to Godliness” was lived out in her warm, welcoming, and impeccably kept home. Thanksgiving and Christmas were especially cherished times, where she created traditions filled with food from generations past and gifts chosen with love.
Family was the heart of Donna’s world. She was endlessly devoted to their care and well-being, always going above and beyond to provide comfort, nourishment, or encouragement. She especially treasured watching her grandsons grow, celebrating victories on the lacrosse field and in life, and guiding them with her unwavering love.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Lawrence W. Ashton Sr., and her brother, Lawrence W. Ashton Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, William T. Stevenson Jr.; her son, Brandon M. Stevenson and his wife, Tayloe; and her cherished grandsons, Ashton M. Stevenson and Carson W. Lester. Joan Ashton (sister in law), Kelley Pidhirsky (niece), Tracy L. Ashton (niece), Lawence W. Ashton III (nephew), Amy Simpson (niece), Bob & Amy Brandimore, and Michael & Lynette Stevenson
Donna embraced the joys of life with gratitude and met its hardships with faith. She will be remembered for her selfless heart, her devotion to family, and her steadfast trust in God.
