Donna Jean (Dunn) Swink, 75, of Burlington, Iowa, died Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Home Health and Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born on October 22, 1948, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John and Violet (Brown) Dunn. On August 21, 1970, in Burlington, she married Donald "Don" Swink. He preceded her in death on August 28, 2022.
Donna worked as a registered nurse at Burlington Medical Center and Iowa City VA Medical Center where she later retired from. She was a member of West Hill United Methodist Church and Jane A. Delano Nurses Association. Donna loved to be outside doing yardwork and working in her flower garden. She also enjoyed sitting down and taking time to knit. What Donna loved most was spoiling her grandsons Andrew and Henry and her sweet grand puppies Zeus and Wilbur. Spending time with family and friends always brought Donna the most joy.
She is survived by her two children: Anne (Jerry) Peitzman of West Des Moines and Eric Swink of Burlington; two grandsons: Andrew and Henry; two sisters: Nancy Kohl of Solon, Iowa and Patty (B.J.) Mitts of Orlando, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother James Dunn.
According to her wishes, cremation had been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. No services will be held at this time.
A memorial has been established in her memory and can be mailed to Jane A. Delano Nurses Association, 11475 N. Gear Ave., Burlington, Iowa 52601 or West Hill United Methodist Church, 504 Leebrick St., Burlington, Iowa 52601.
