Donna Lynn Thompson

Donna Lynn (Kocman) Thompson was born on September 3, 1951, in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas to Frank J. Kocman and Helga Machentanz.  She passed away on February 4, 2024.  

She attended St. Joseph Parochial School, Travis Elementary School, Lamar Jr. High and graduated from Steven F. Austin High School in 1969. On May 30, 1985, she married her husband, John (Les) Thompson.  

She started her career working for the Texas A&M Library System, and then transferred to the Memorial Student Center Graphic Arts Department and became manager where she stayed for 20 years.  She left A&M and became the office manager for the Wickson Water Special Utility District for 10 years.  She then returned to Texas A&M University System to complete her service for the state in the Chemistry Department and at the Texas Transportation Institute and retired in 2006.

In 2005, she bought the Furniture Farm Antiques and Collectibles in Bryan, Texas. For the next several years she was a skilled and well-known merchant of antiques and furniture.  

Donna leaves a legacy of unwavering strength, fierce determination, courage, compassion, and love for all. She had a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and added just the right touch to give “new life” to old, discarded items.

She is survived by her husband, John (Les) Thompson of College Station, Texas, her only daughter, Kim Norton Tunnell of Bryan, Texas, her father, Frank J. Kocman of Bryan, Texas, her stepchildren, Terry D. Thompson of Ft. Worth, Texas and Sharon K. Clements of Vernon, Texas, her grandchildren Travis L. Norton and Brandon K. Tunnell, her great grandchildren Briar and Cole Tunnell, her brother Frank W. Kocman (Bill) and wife Judy of Garland, Texas, her brother Carl Kocman and wife Christina of Bryan, Texas, her sister Linda Kocman of Bryan, Texas and her former husband, Gary Norton of College Station, Texas.  

She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
