Donna Lee Weldon

June 30, 1948 - September 21, 2025

Donna Sue (Lee) Weldon, a devoted mother, loving sister, proud grandmother & great grandmother, passed on September 21, 2025. Donna is survived by her daughters Michelle “Shelly” Adams and Jennifer “Shea” Sawyer – including Shea's husband Brad Sawyer, grandsons Justin Burk, Jonathan Burk, Graham Sawyer, Jake Adams, Justin’s wife Shana Burk and great grandson Jett Burk. As well as her sister, Rhonda Harmes and numerous nieces and their families.

Born in Carlsbad, California on June 30,1948, to Billie Gallagher Lee & Curtis Paul Lee, Donna was the baby of the family. She graduated from Lakeview High School in San Angelo, Texas in 1967. She attended cosmetology school in San Angelo, Texas, where she went on to open her own salon, "Southwest Stylists" near present day Sunset Mall. She shared in the joys and the pains of many women in the community and put her daughters through college working 6 days a week. She cared so deeply about the women in her salon and empowered them to follow their dreams, even when life presented challenges. She did not have clients, she had friends and mentors that she cared for until the end, with a career spanning nearly six decades.

Donna’s care extended itself into every aspect of her life – she had a deep relationship with her sister and longtime roommate, Rhonda, until the very end. Donna had the best sense of humor and was very sharp witted. Her career was her passion, but her life is defined by the impact she left on her family. Her daughters, Shelly & Shea, were her everything. She stood in the gaps and taught them to be strong, courageous, independent and loving to others. Any event, big or small, was not a family function unless Nana was present – she was a pillar of wisdom, respect and grace for her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchild.

Donna’s early years were consumed with hymnal and rock n’ roll music, reading, and flying. She was a member of the San Angelo Civil Air Patrol and regularly soared the skies above on Sunday afternoons while her mom thought she was "with friends" ~ that was her humor, she always held a little in reserve. Her stories almost always included her girls or grandkids – something funny they had said or done.

Each day Donna rose to do her work: her ministry of hair and motherhood. Her bounding laughter and twinkling blue-eyed Irish smile would light up a room. She will be greatly missed by so many - although we rejoice for her in joining her father, mother, sister, & loving husband Lonnie.

A memorial service for Donna will be held at 2pm, Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas 79606
