Donnie Stephen Elkins

Donnie Stephen Elkins, 66, of Cameron, died Friday, February 10, 2023.

Born on October 11, 1956, in Lee County, the son of the late Vernon Paul and Veleria Hough Elkins.

Mr. Elkins was of the Presbyterian faith. After high school Stephen attended CCCC majoring in tool and dye. He worked for 38 years at Magnetti Marelli in Sanford and went on to be a supervisor at Pentair in Sanford where he retired. Stephen enjoyed working in his yard, playing golf, and watching UNC basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Elkins and husband Joshua Lomax of Sanford; sister, Ann E. Keck of Bear Creek; partner of 20 years, Mary Dollar of Cameron; niece, Paula Barrows and husband Chris of Bear Creek; three great nieces; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 N. Second Ave., Siler City and other times at his home, 342 Hollywood Rd. Cameron NC 28326. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Horseshoe Presbyterian Church, 1540 S Carbonton Rd, Sanford, NC 27330 with Pastor David Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
