Donnie Faye Blunt Embrey was born December 24, 1937, in Cumby, Texas to Judson Thomas Blunt and Gladys Clemmie McGowan, the eighth of ten children. She passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, in Daingerfield surrounded by her loving family.
Donnie was raised in Cumby, Texas, and graduated from high school. She married Billy Wayne Embrey on December 30, 1955. She was employed in the banking industry and served on the board of directors of Northeast Texas Credit Union. She was a member of South Union Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, cooking and spending time with family. She was a devoted mother and meme to her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was her family, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength and devotion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and five sisters, and the father of her children, Billy Wayne Embrey. She is survived by three daughters, Pattie and Dale Cates of Hughes Springs; Betty and Wayne Marshall of Pittsburg; Billie and Gary Simpson of Daingerfield; grandchildren, David and Natalie Marshall of Rosenberg; Heather and Aaron McGuire of Monticello, Arkansas; Erin and Brittany Marshall of Pittsburg; Corey Cates and Jordan Brisendine of Birmingham, Alabama; Ashley Simpson and Josh Wilcox of Lone Star; Shelby and Braden Robey of Longview and great grandchildren, Teagan, Drake and Forrest McGuire of Monticello, Arkansas; Hendrix Marshall of Rosenberg; Bryclyn, Maverick and Camdyn Marshall of Pittsburg; and coming soon, Baby Robey of Longview. Three siblings, Bill and Pat Blunt of Garland; Luke and Linda Blunt of Rockwall; and Judy Pollan of Daingerfield. Special thanks for taking such wonderful care of our mother to Capstone Healthcare of Daingerfield, Chambers Hospice, and special friend Alma Hatley, who made many visits in her Final days.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, September 17, 2025 in the Chapel of Horn Family Funeral Home in Daingerfield with Bro. Chad Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery in Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday evening, September 16, 2025 at the funeral home.
