Donnie Gale Thomas

Donnie Gale Thomas, known affectionately as "Don Don," passed away on August 14, 2024 in Kansas City, Kansas, at the age of 74. Born to Abner Davis and O'Gill Watson on September 16, 1949, in Los Angeles, California, she was a beacon of light and grew up in a vibrant community that shaped her into the generous and spirited person remembered by all.
Donnie was a cherished member of the Davis family, along with her older brother Joe Davis. Her adventurous nature and zeal for life propelled her in many directions such as bowling, softball, line-dancing, travel, community activism, and so much more. Donnie was most passionate about her children, Toni Greenwood-Pearson & Derek Greenwood, and her cherished relationship with the Lord.
She has always lived a very full life, with loads of adventures and travel, but she had no idea of what was ahead. She was about to embark on her greatest adventure yet. She was about to have a life changing meeting with Jesus.
Donnie became a Christian in 2001, the year of the Twin Towers' bombing. I don't know what it was about that catastrophe that moved her, but she was never the same. She met Jesus, and didn't look back. God led her to Sheffield Family Life Center, and it was there, where she discovered her purpose to serve others and met her new extended family. Donnie found her place in several ministries, and she loved every bit of it.
Donnie is predeceased by her parents, Abner & O'Gill Davis. Donnie's memory will be cherished and kept alive by her children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, brother, nieces, nephews, and a community who love and respect her. Donnie will be profoundly missed.
Services to honor and celebrate the life of Donnie Gale Thomas will be held onSaturday, August 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Sheffield Family Life Center, located at 5700 Winner Rd, Kansas City Missouri.
