Donnis Perkins

Donnis Perkins was born September 25, 1938, and passed away November 2, 2025, at the age of 87.
Donnis proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 173rd Airborne Ranger Brigade. He also worked many years in the oil field. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He loved his grandchildren more than anything, including his granddogs. Donnis brought warmth and compassion to those around him and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan Perkins; children, Deedee Shrope and husband Jimmy, Vernon "Veno" Perkins and wife Trish, and Shane Perkins and significant other, Morgan Upchurch; grandchildren, Justin Shrope and wife Kayla, Joshua Shrope and wife Megan, Cortney Touchet and husband Dustin, and Zaine Perkins and wife Alec; great grandchildren, Kaiden Richard, Hannah Simon, Paityne Simon, Thai Simon, Brylan Shrope, Lydia Shrope, William Shrope, and Charlize Pahlavan; siblings, Clyde Perkins and wife Phyllis, Christine Harrison and husband Bill, Connie Chism and husband Raymond, Betty Hudson, and Dean Eddleman; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Nellie Perkins; brothers, Rex Perkins, Gordan Perkins, James Perkins, and John Perkins; and sister, Peggy Hardy.
Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m., until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. 4th Street, DeQuincy, Louisiana. Interment to follow at Good Hope Cemetery, Singer, Louisiana.
