Donte Bellamy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Martin's Home for Service Inc. on Jan. 22, 2026.
Donte Lamont Bellamy 32 of Montclair NJ was born August 8 th , 1993, to Winford Bellamy and Chantell Lee in Passaic NJ. He departed this life January 13, 2026. He worked for the Department of Public Works in Montclair township. Donte was a product of the Montclair Public School System where he graduated from Montclair High School in June 2012.

Donte was very active as a young child in his community, he played town football, he played football for the Cobras, he also played baseball and town wrestling, you name it he did it! He always kept us on our toes. He was the middle child known as the "crazy middle" lol. One thing about him, you heard him before you seen him.

He played for Montclair High School's football team with the #12, that is where his brotherhood began. Donte was on the Montclair High School wrestling team. After high school he went on to Nassau Community college and played football for the Lions where he played in his first bowl game.

Donte came back to Montclair to coach wrestling for Montclair Recreation in 2015. That same year, Donte became a proud father for the first time with his daughter Ava and kept the trend going with Avery and Autumn. Donte and the triple A's then became the triple A's plus 1, another girl, June. What a girl's' dad! Lol. If you saw him, most likely you saw them. They were his everything and still are.

His mom had a big part of his heart even when he didn't pick up the phone when she called. He loved his dad and tried to make him very proud of him. He played football and had a love for dogs just like his father. He had a secret way of communicating with his siblings, whom he loved unconditionally.

He is predeceased in death by his paternal grandparents Dorothy and Winford Bellamy Sr., maternal grandparents Deborah Freeman-Lee, and Gregory Allen Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memories his father Winford Bellamy, mother Chantell Lee, and Grandfather Johnny Lee Sr. 4 daughters Ava, Avery, Autumn, June Bellamy, and Nevaeah O'Conner McCafferty, very special friends, Stephanie Davis and Shannon McCafferty. 2 brothers Devin Bellamy Lee and Ahmari Bellamy. 2 sisters Aaliyah and Debionna Bellamy and one niece Kalani Ball. Godparents Cherisse Bohannon-Million, Clarence Million, and their children Mikayla, and Micheal, nephew Marcus Micheal Million. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues. He will truly be missed.

Prayers for the family and especially his daughters during this very difficult and stressful time. Donte was quite the character in HS. He was always so animated, friendly and a great athlete. Donte was always in my office, he just wanted to talk or try and make me laugh. He will be missed.
