Mr. Donzell Demetres Planter was born on May 11, 1966 in Florence, South Carolina to Melba Tindal Planter and the late McNeil Planter Jr.
Donzell received his formal education in the Public Schools of Florence, SC. He was a graduate of Wilson High School, Class of 1984 and later completed Alliance Truck Driving School in Asheville, North Carolina.
“Zell” as he was affectionately called worked as a truck driver for Estes Trucking Company for 20 plus years in Columbia, South Carolina. His family later returned to Florence and he was employed by Remco Inc. for a number of years. He also was the community handyman with his talents including brick mason, EXPERT painter and maintenance.
“Zell” was preceded in death by his father, McNeil Planter, Jr. his brother, Deon Planter, sister, Terri Planter; and niece, Danah Burgess, along with his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Left to cherish his precious memories is his son, Demetres (Nydia) Planter of Florence, SC; two granddaughters; Kaelyn Planter and Kari Planter of Florence, SC; mother, Melba T. Planter; one sister, Summer (Julius) Fledger; one brother, Tony (Missy) Planter; nieces, Tamara Planter, Akiiana (Anfernee) Baker, Kyiah Crawford, Kaylin Daniels, Laia Planter and Nova Hickson; nephews, Coby Burgess, Marion Daniels, Tony “L.T.” (Rashieka) Burgess Planter, Benaiah Burgess and Noah Burgess; great-grand nephews; five aunts, four uncles and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly.
