Dora Alberta Travers Bailey, of Mardela Springs passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025

peacefully at Arcadia Assisted Living in Easton Maryland, where she had been residing. Born in 1936 in Cambridge MD to Albert W. Travers and Laura Leona Travers and graduating from Cambridge High School in 1954.

A devoted wife for 52 years, proceeded in death by her husband, Jack Wilson Bailey.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Phillips (Jeff), granddaughters Isabella Barksdale (Anthony) and Miranda Phillips, brother Albert "Jay" Travers (Carol) Aurora CO, brother-in-law Robert Short (Noreen deceased) Baltimore MD, sister-in-law Charlene Travers (Darley, deceased) of Hebron MD, many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

In her younger years Dora played in a volleyball league, sung alto in a gospel quartette and choir in church, was a very involved parent, chairing, or volunteering with various school fundraisers in Northwestern Elementary and Mardela High School. Always a Warrior.... She was employed as Bookkeeper/Secretary to the Principal at Mardela High School for 37 years. She delighted in knowing so many generations of students who attended Mardela. She spent time in recent years volunteering with Westside Historical Society, attending as many gospel performances, Bible study, and church services as possible with dear friends.

Thank you to everyone who sent a card or note, came for a visit or called this past year while in assisted living. She was so appreciative of it.

A graveside service will be held at Mardela Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 am on Friday, January 2, 2026.
