Married: Gordon Cutler Dean July 18, 1947, in Manti, UT
Maxine grew up as a youngster during the Great Depression and WWII. Gordon served for the entire war.
Occupation(s): Farm girl, stenographer, secretary, policy typist, cost accountant, daycare provider, title company document specialist, and her very favorite work was with Zions Bank (in various positions) culminating in being Magna Branch Manager and 2nd Vice President.
Maxine had many important church callings and interests. She loved music and enjoyed singing in organized choral groups. For over 20 years she served on several assignments beside Gordon at Temple Square and The Joseph Smith Jr. Memorial Building. She was a consummate cook who passed on many cherished recipes that will remain staples in her progeny’s traditions. Being married to a career soldier, she lived in some wonderful places, including Port Townsend, WA, Monterey and Palo Alto, CA, Tehran, Iran, Boise, ID. She loved to travel to local and exotic places. She lived with her family in Iran for over two years, including during the Cuban Missile Crisis. She cherished special holiday family gatherings at their Magna home. Those events especially sustained her for those nine solitary years after Gordon’s passing.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas Dean (Rebecca) and Jeffrey Dean (LaRayne), 6 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Cutler Dean; parents, Maybert R. Strate and Leona Swensen Strate; and siblings, Eva Leone Lund, Maybert Ray Strate, Helen Bernice Donaldson, Elwood Kent Strate, and Robert Duane Strate.
Viewing and Funeral services: Viewing Thursday, December 19th from 6-8 pm at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. Main St., Magna, UT. On December 20th a viewing will be from 10-10:45 am and a funeral service at 11 am at Spencer 4th Ward Chapel, 3340 S. 8260 W. Breeze Dr., Magna, UT.
Interment: 1 pm on December 20th at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT.
