Dore Miller Stubenvoll passed away peacefully at home on November 4th, after just celebrating her 100th birthday with family and friends. She was born in Little Rock Arkansas on October 27, 1925 to Ann and Melvin Miller. A lifelong student and learner, she graduated from Bucknell University with an AB in Art & Psychology. She received her Masters in Education from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She married William Stubenvoll in 1948 in NYC at "The Little Church Around the Corner."
She used her education working as a therapist and counselor in health and wellness fields. She worked at Longview State Hospital in Cincinnati, Miller Dwan Hospital and the Center for Brief Psychotherapy. Dore was a certified Psychosynthesis, Level 2 Reiki therapist and Feldenkrais practitioner. A proud published author of "The Non-Chewers Cookbook", compiled with local dentists and dietitians for people who needed healthy food options. She shared her knowledge and love of cooking throughout her life.
Dore loved the outdoors and spent much of her time, skiing, playing tennis, sailing, biking, kayaking, gardening and walking with friends. Hunting grouse was a favorite sport and she was very competitive, never sharing her "best trails". She was a longtime ski instructor at Spirit Mountain for over 30 years. She served on boards including Congdon Park PTA and Scouts.
She was a supporter of The Depot and College of St. Scholastica. She was a member of the Mayflower Society, DAR and faithful member of AA, Al-Anon, the Kitchi Gammi Club and St. Joseph's Gnesen Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Stubenvoll (Joe Staats); sons, Dr. Robert (Jane Clements) and John (Lee); grandchildren, Robert Joseph (Nicole), Megan (Jonathan) Knetsch, Michael (Gina) Stubenvoll, Jeannie (Mike) Schumacher, Robb (Laura) Stubenvoll; and great grandchildren, Andrew Joseph, Ella & Jack Knetsch, Leo & Belle Stubenvoll, Jameson, Sadie & Charlie Schumacher, Annie, Robert, Clare & Henry Stubenvoll. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; infant daughter, Patty; and her parents.
The family appreciates the compassionate care she received from the staff at Home Instead and Essentia Hospice.
