Doreen Marie Gomm Banz

Doreen Marie Banz, 86, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 9, 2023 at home.

Doreen was born June 30, 1937 in Ogden, Utah. She was the daughter of George Thomas Gomm and Anona Marie Fowler. She was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School.

On July 22, 1955 she married Larry Widdison Banz in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.

Doreen was very accomplished at sewing, knitting and crocheting. She made clothing for her family and tailored clothing for other people. She enjoyed making gifts for her children and grandchildren. She worked at Fred Meyer’s for many years and enjoyed helping both customers and her fellow coworkers. She enjoyed traveling and camping. She went on many trips around the western United States. She loved nature and being in the out-of-doors. She loved to identify wild birds and wildflowers.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many callings in the Church including Cub Scout Den Mother, Stake Primary Board Member and Primary President.

Doreen was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her son, David; her father, George; her mother, Anona; and her brother, Nolan Gomm (Carolyn). She is survived by her sons, Gordon (Denett) Banz and Warren (Brenda) Banz; daughter, Cynthia Banz; along with 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at the mortuary. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
