Doreen Buza

Doreen Buza, 99, of Bonfield, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2024), at Ascension Saint Mary Hospital in Kankakee.

She was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Kankakee County, the daughter of Pete and Grace Goodrich Styck.

Doreen married Frank Buza on Oct. 14, 1942. In 2004, he preceded her in death. They had been married for 62 years.

She helped her husband on the farm and raised her family. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the Home Bureau.

Doreen loved sewing and making clothes for her family. She also made alterations for people who needed them.

She also enjoyed traveling and spending her winters in Florida.

Surviving are three daughters, Sharon (Harry) Pfeiffer, of Bonfield, Linda Rink, of Kankakee, and Vickie (John) Brinkman, of Bonfield; one sister, Carol Mullet, of Kankakee; seven grandchildren, Nathan (Jessica) Brinkman, Brandon (Brianne) Brinkman, Sherry (Scott) Peters, Allen (Tina) Pfeiffer, Mike (Dawn) Rink, Ryan (Carrie) Rink and Corey (Kristin) Rink; 25 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; five brothers; one grandson, Philip Rink; and one son-in-law, Gene Rink.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, until the noon funeral service, both at Schreffler Funeral Homes, Kankakee Chapel. The Rev. Keith Blankenship will officiate the ceremony.

Interment will follow in Kankakee Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Aroma Township.
