Dorene Farrens, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away in the caring hands at Caring Hearts in Pocatello, Idaho on December 12, 2024. Dorene was born on January 7, 1935 to Darald (Pug) and Rita Christensen, in American Falls, Idaho. She Graduated from Aberdeen High School.
She married the love of her life, Joseph (Joe) Stacy Farrens on September 3, 1955. Together, they raised three children: J.D., Rick, and Debbie. Dorene and Joe were sealed in the Idaho Falls, LDS temple on September 2, 2004.
Dorene took great pride in her work, starting at her father's restaurant in her youth. Later, she became known as "the warden" during her time as a floor lady for Simplots and Idaho Select, where her strong work ethic and vibrant personality shone through.
A woman of strength and determination, Dorene was known for her feisty spirit and honesty, yet she had a heart of gold that enveloped her family and friends with love and support. She cherished her time in her garden, nurturing her flowers, but her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her family. Whether traveling, camping, sharing meals, Holidays or playing card games, family gatherings were the highlight of her life.
Dorene is survived by her children, J.D. (Carol) Farrens, Rick Farrens, and Debbie (Alan) Jones; her siblings, Dee (Jackie) Christensen, Claude Christensen, Lorraine Alexander, and Marva Jean Mueller; as well as her eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph (Joe) Farrens; her parents, Darald (Pug) and Rita Christensen; her sister-in-law, Kay Christensen; and her brother-in-law, William Robert "Bob, Bill, or what you know him as" Mueller.
