Doretha Johnson Obituary
Her journey Mother sister grandmother Sister Doretha Johnson was born 5/9/1942 in Cershaw South Carolina to Parents: Leonard Sowell and Theo Evans Sowell Cannington. She attended Jefferson High school where she attended with her many siblings. She Moved to Pittsburgh 1955 Then to Ny 1958 to manhattan. She loved the big city. She and her sisters would gather play bid whisk and laugh, she was always the life of the party. She always was a hard worker and She knew she wanted better for her children and herself. Her earlier years she worked as waitress and developed a love for cooking. She attend Great Baptist Church. Where she would start her walk with the lord. She moved to Florida 1964 with her mother and siblings. She would often tell stories about her time in High Springs. She then decided to relocate herself to Bradenton Fl in 1969 where she met her husband Samuel Johnson who was a local police officer for the Bradenton police department. They married shortly after. She purchased two homes in a gated lot where he would host family dinners and gatherings. She applied and got hired at tropicana where she worked for over 40 years and loved everyday of it. She would always come home bragging about her coworkers and supervisors and how she had it made. If she wasn't home with Family she was at work. In the 1990s she joined St. Stephens AME church she was a very godly lady and always embraced that with everyone every Sunday you would see her in church with her grandkids. She loved being in the kitchen for Sunday dinners and cooking food for thanksgiving. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was always spreading love and joy into people. Doretha is proceed in death by: Husband Samuel Johnson Both parents Leonard (July 1963) and Theo (February 2005) Her brothers James (sunny) Sowell (June 2000) Leonard Sowell (April 2018) Her sister Margret Dennis (April 2017) Her beloved daughter Denise Murray (September 2018) She leaves behind to cherish sweet memories: siblings Mildred McDowell (Buford) Luther floyd Sowell (Jenifer) Ralph Sowell (Virginia) Larry Sowell (Margot) Marcila Sowell Harrell (Clarence) Cleo Cannington Leo Cannington (June) Richard Cannington (Debbie) Children: Son Michael welch Grandchildren: Debrisha,,Jasmine,Tony,Vonn,Vontrey,Treyvan,Micheal,Mya,Alea,Tia,Rasheem,Patrice A host a great grandkids nieces nephews and friends.
