Dorian “Dori” Rae Erickson, age 70, of Glenwood, Minnesota, died peacefully with her husband by her side on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home at 659 Voyager Drive NW in Alexandria, MN on Thursday, November 13th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, November 14, 2025, 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home with a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on February 18, 1955, Dori was the daughter of Gerald and Mavis (Boettcher) Winkleman. She grew up in Chaska, MN attending Mayer Lutheran High School in Mayer, MN and graduating in 1973. On May 8, 1976, she married Gary Erickson, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chaska. The couple made their home in Glenwood, Sauk Centre, Grand Marais, and finally back again in Glenwood. In Grand Marais she and Gary ran their family-owned resort. She also worked at a fudge and gifts shop in Grand Marais, where she created the “Chocolate Explosion” fudge that can still be found there today. She worked at the Glenwood Public Library until recently, a job that suited her passion for reading. In her free time, she was an avid sewer, finding particular joy in creating beautiful quilts for her family and friends. Her warmth, creativity, and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Mavis Winkleman, and her sister-in-law, Candy Winkleman. Dori is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Gary; her son Erik and daughter-in-law Lisa Erickson, and grandson Quinn Erickson; her daughter Meghan and son-in-law Carl Berg, and grandchildren Alexander and Samantha Berg. She is also survived by her siblings, Kim (Dan) Bjostad of Richfield and Noel Winkleman of Roseville, as well as many cherished nieces & nephews, close cousins, relatives, and friends.
