Duane and family, I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Doris. I have such wonderful memories of her and all the special caring and thoughtfulness she embodied. I especially cherish the times I got to spend with her on the "administrative retreats" we spent up at Montello. The week end was packed with meetings but Doris made sure we all had a good time as well. These outings gave me the opportunity to get to know her and appreciate all her strengths, talents and positive outlooks on life in general. She made the best breakfast casserole that ended up in my family cookbook I have passed down to my grandchildren. They know it as Doris Andreas egg casserole. I think about the great dedication that you and Doris had to each other and I send my best wishes to you as you go through this great loss.

Duane and family,
I will have many memories of being neighbors, friends, and our last times together. Remembering our parties, playing cards, and our friendly gatherings in Florida. I will never forget Doris' kindness and thoughtfulness for all those she cared about.
With love to you all!

I remember Doris in the kitchen boiling several pounds of spaghetti for her eight dinner guests. We were young, bachelor teachers employed at Johnsburg School District 12 in the days when classes were still K-8.
The men were gathered snug in the living room with their boss, superintendent Duane Andreas. Lots of fun, laughter and great anecdotes going on. Doris, standing over the hot stove at the parameter of the entertainment, smiled. I wonder if she realized we felt her presence in our circle of merriment. Her personality and charm could transcend space and earshot. She was part of our anecdotes, our happiness and our thoughts. Her giving, caring, inspiring spirit touched our hearts in subliminal ways that require no words or interaction. It took only her nearby presence to subconsciously tap our senses and brighten the ambience of our gathering.
Doris Mary Andreas (nee Bauer) was thankful of God's blessings: the people in her life, the adventures she shared with loved ones, the challenges that ignited her resolve, the opportunities to serve others, and her intrinsic happiness, to name a few of those blessings.
A Part of her legacy: Doris nourished her family and friends with love and light, and brightened every day; she served God and community with heart and mind, always in a Christian way.
God bless Doris and Duane, their family and friends; and let us all pass along, through our connections with others, Christian values that Doris exemplified throughout her life.
