Doris Virginia Beavers

Doris Virginia Beavers, 86, of Capital Heights, Maryland, passed peacefully Saturday, March 14, 2026. Doris was born October 9, 1939 in Oxon Hill, Maryland, to the late Mary Helen Smith and Carlton Howard. Doris worked for Briggs Meat Co. and Star Catering for 28 years.

Doris enjoyed going to lunch weekly with family and exchanging Scratch-Off tickets. She would always say before scratching that she never won anything, then after scratching them, of course she had won something. She also enjoyed going to her niece's house when they had family card games, she would never play saying she didn't know how to play but always sat on the sidelines giving advice to whoever was sitting close to her. But her all time favorite thing to do was to go to the casinos and play the slots. If she was lucky enough to win, it was guaranteed you were going to see her winning ticket.

In addition to her parents Mary and Carlton, Doris was predeceased by her daughter Sheila Lowry, grandson David R. Lowry, Jr., and her brothers Carlon Edward (Henry) Smith and Clifton Haywood (Buster) Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Robert (Robbie) Lowry (Tammi) and David (Joe) R. Lowry (Delores), grandchildren Sabrina Miller (Raymond), Amanda Aristidou (Charles), Carla Michelle Lutz (Justin) and Ryan Lowry. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Nik Wood, Jackson Miller, Austin LaBille, Kaylyn Clark, Jordan Lutz, Tristan Lutz, and Megan Lowry, and a great-grandson Julian Hardee.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at Lee Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday, March 25th, from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 26th, also at Lee Funeral Home, Inc. at 11am. Burial will follow at St Barnabas Episcopal Church Cemetery 5203 St Barnabas Rd, Marlow Heights, MD 20748.
