Doris M. Beriont

It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our mother, Doris McNair Beriont, on September 22, 2022. Mom was born to Mary and George McNair on October 31, 1930 in Elizabeth, NJ. An only child, she grew up in Linden where she met and married the love of her life, Gregory Joseph Beriont, and raised her children.
Once an empty nester, Mom took the opportunity to make a career change, transitioning from a stay-at-home mom to the hospitality industry. She worked for some of the largest hotel chains spending time in Houston, Atlanta, and Philadelphia where she discovered her passion for travel both domestic and international. She enjoyed exploring new places and meeting new people. She was never happier than when she was planning her next adventure.
But Mom's internal compass always led her back to Long Beach Island, to a home she and Dad bought more than 65 years ago and is still in the family to this day. She loved the island, and always considered it her real home.
Fiercely independent, Mom was unique in that she was invariably and unfailingly happy. She embraced life and lived it to the fullest, always looking forward, never back. She enjoyed her travel and work, but above all, she loved being surrounded by family and friends. She always said she was most proud of her children and grandchildren. At the time of her passing, she was looking forward to the birth of her first great grandchild.
Mom was pre-deceased by her husband Gregory, infant daughter, Tracy, and two of her sons, Scott Reagan and Kyle Patrick. She leaves behind daughters Kathleen Wesson (Robert), Lynne Beriont-Virginia (Joe) and Kelley Beriont (Paul); and sons Walter, Greg (Sue), Kevin, Kerry (Nancy) and Chris (Rosa); and grandchildren Henry, Jane, Kate, Lydia, Patrick, and Max.
A Memorial will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 at Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 1119 Long Beach Blvd. (corner of 12th St. & Blvd.), Ship Bottom, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donating to one of her favorite charities: the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Boys Town.
