Doris M. Brookey, age 98 of Vandalia passed away February 12, 2026. She was born May 15, 1927 in Dayton, the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Stebbelton) Matthews. Doris was an award winning Watercolor artist and a member of the Ohio Watercolor Society. She was very active in her adult years with many activities to include tennis, swimming, cross country skiing and biking. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; son, Gary Brookey; and daughter, Diane Camp. Doris is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandy Brookey; grandchildren, Gary Brookey, II; Amanda (Joe) Dick, Matthew Brookey, Lyle (Devin) Martin, Brooke Martin, Beronica (Mark) Hackenberg; Alah Camp; great-grandchildren, Matthew II, Zoe, Mia, Oliver, Baylee, Raelyn, Stash, Jasmin, Sheila, Shannon, Paul and Ethan; as well as extended family. A visitation will be held on February 23, 2026 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A graveside service will be held privately by the family at Dayton Memorial Park.
