Doris S. Cook

1933-2022

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend was reunited with her eternal companion and best friend on October 20, 2022, at the age of 89.

Doris was born on March 10, 1933, to Nels Leroy and Iva Lue Simonsen in Brigham City, Utah.  She graduated from Box Elder High School and attended Weber State, studying art.

She met the love of her life, Jay H Cook and was married for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on September 19, 1955.  Together they raised 4 children on the family farm in West Point, Utah.  Doris was a substitute teacher for many years and eventually accepted a full-time position as the librarian at South Clearfield Elementary School, where she worked for many years.  The students all loved to listen to her read stories, because she would change her voice for all the different characters.

Doris was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many ward and stake callings.  After her retirement, she and Jay served a mission together in the New York, New York North Mission, working side-by-side in the mission office. After their honorable release from their mission, she took up the hobby of painting.  Many of her family members have her paintings hanging on the walls of their homes.

Doris is survived by 3 of her children, Nancie (Bob) Clark, Chad (Janette) Cook, Bryce (Marlene) Cook as well as 13 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, parents, siblings, son Mark (Janet) Cook and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Monday October 24, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the West Point 4th Ward Chapel, located at 2852 W 300 N, West Point, Utah.  Friends may visit family Sunday October 23, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lindquist Syracuse Mortuary, 869 S 2000 W, Syracuse and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be at the West Point Cemetery, 80 N 4000 West, West Point, Utah
