MRS. DORIS L. (JOHNSON) COOK Mrs. Doris L. (Johnson) Cook, 84 years, died on September 26th after a brief illness, at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. She was the wife of the late Homer I. Cook. Born & raised in Greenville, S.C. she was the daughter of the late Norman & Nora (Nanney) Johnson. Mrs. Cook was a resident of Saugus since 1945. Before moving to Saugus from South Carolina, she was a trained volunteer for the Nurse's Aide Corps with the American Red Cross. She was a member of and served as secretary of the Cliftondale Congregational Church in Saugus for more than 13 years. Mrs. Cook was involved in several church groups including the Lydians, the Acacias, Couples' Club, the Missionary Club, the Food Pantry & the Parson's Attic. She was also active in the Saugus League of Women Voters & Eastern Star. In addition, she enjoyed square dancing, round dancing & league candlepin bowling. Mrs. Cook is survived by one son, Ronald A. Cook of Saugus & one daughter, Nancy E. Rudman of Belmont. She was predeceased by her son, Wayne A. Cook. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Katherine A. Rudman & two grandsons, Wayne A. Cook & William Cook; two great-grandchildren, Cordelia & Zander Cook; one brother, Charles F. Johnson of SC & nine nieces. She was also the sister of the late Norman Johnson & William Johnson. SERVICE INFORMATION A funeral service will be held in the Cliftondale Congregational Church, 50 Essex St., SAUGUS on Saturday at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., Saugus. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hallmark Health Hospice, 178 Savin St., Malden, MA 02148.
