Doris F. Dibling of Watkinsville, GA. died at the age of 95 years and 8 months on December 19, 2024. Mom was preceded in death by her husband of almost 74 years Carl W. Dibling.

Parents, Jack and Emma Freiburg of Union Beach NJ.

Brother’s Gene (Donna) Freiburg of Union Beach NJ. and John (Carol) Freiburg of Freehold, NJ.

Sister Lorraine (Ken) Robinson of Tuckerton, NJ, and one Great Granddaughter Emma Irene Dibling.

Mom was born and raised in Northern New Jersey Area of Keyport / Union Beach. Mom met Dad at the local butcher shop. After Dad’s enlistment in the Army ended with the end of WWII, he came home to his sweetheart and they were married October 1, 1949. Mom and Dad celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends at Fort Yargo State Park in 2019.

Mom leaves behind a daughter Patricia D. Sibel of Watkinsville GA. son Steven R. Dibling and wife Karen of Athens Ga. and son Jeffrey A. Dibling and wife Sara of Monroe GA.

She also leaves 7 grandchildren Daniel (Terri) Weich of FL, William Weich of SC, Bradley (April) of FL, Matthew Dibling (Jackie) of GA. Andrea Dibling of GA., Ashley Dibling Wolfe and husband Jonathan of GA. and Ava Dibling of GA.. 10 Great Grandchildren, Steven Weich, Abigail Dibling, Bryant Dibling, Ethan Weich, Richard Weich, Landon Dibling, Hudson Dibling, Olivia Dibling, Darcy Wolfe and Wells Wolfe. As well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own.

Mom was a devout convert to Catholicism, Mom and Dad were members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for 32 years together, she served as a Eucharistic Minister with Dad, she was a member of the Columbiettes and the Women’s CRHP program. She also was a member a various choral and folk groups at several Churches.

Over the years Mom was the consummate “House Wife / Host”, Looking after young Trish and Steve when in Mount Prospect IL, Once she and Dad moved to Needham MA. and after the bonus child, Jeff was born. Mom made history in the town of Needham as she applied for and accepted a job at Harvey’s Hardware. helping the local men find what was basically right in front of them, yes, we are all pretty much the same!

Once moving to Horseheads, NY, Mom started working for the Horseheads School District, where she made several new friends and cherished their friendship for years. Mom loved to dig up the dirt, in the garden that is, she was a self-taught green thumb! She grew some of the best tomatoes in Horseheads and could bring back just about any dead plant. Did I mention the Jade plant? More like a tree, last I knew some off shots of this plant were still thriving 50 + years later! After several moves with the Westinghouse family, Dad ended up moving his bride and Jeff to Dresher, PA. for a position with Magnavox. Mom needed a break after another major move in preparing the house to be sold and then setting up the new house.

One last move???? Retirement time, well kind of. The Magnavox position went south; Dad took a part time job at Sears before Mom & Dad headed south. They built the house of their dreams in Watkinsville GA. Dad continued to work part time at Sears hear in Athens, when Dad got paid, Mom wanted to ask him, “So, how much do you owe Sears Carl?” This time Mon went to work full time for The University of Georgia, in the Cooperative Extension Dept. She was able to apply her years of service with the HHDS School District towards her Teacher Retirement System of GA. Once they both fully retired, as in, no part time jobs and no volunteering at the hospital, they got back to traveling, Australia, Mexico, Alaska, basically any Cruise Dad could find for less than $100 per day!

Time was taking a toll on them both and the dream retirement home was just too much. One more move was in the cards, a nice patio style home in a senior’s only portion of a subdivision. We owe a lot to Trish who moved in with them and gave them the 24-hour assistance they could really use, mostly for mom as dad was doing pretty good for himself at the time.

Mom’s Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Friday November 7th, at 3:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 958 Epps Bridge Pkwy, Athens, GA 30606. All are welcome to attend; there will be a simple reception after the service in the Parish Hall for anyone wishing to attend.

Interment for Mom and Dad’s ashes will take place at The National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Monday November 10th at 12:30pm. 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr. Canton, GA. 30114. If you are planning to attend and traveling from the Athens area you should be on the road no later than 9:00am.
