Doris Erickson, 95, of
Warren, MN, died on Sunday, December 7, 2025, in Warroad Senior Living, Warroad, MN.
Doris Lillian Wimpfheimer was born on October 23, 1930, in Brandt Twp., Polk County, MN, to Henry and Barbara (Love) Wimpfheimer. The large family moved around when she was young, living in both Angus and Euclid where Doris attended country schools. She graduated from Warren High School in 1948. After high school, she waited tables at the Wagon Wheel Cafe and later worked as the secretary for the local law office of A.A. Trost.
On January 25, 1951, Doris married Myron Erickson. They had five children and lived on their farm northeast of Warren where Doris managed both home and dairy operations. She was a devoted and hardworking woman who tended her flower beds with pride-well into her late eighties! She embraced life on the farm, doting on her beloved Chihuahuas, embroidering, working puzzles, reading, making lefse, and visiting with friends. Above all, she cherished every moment spent with her family. Doris was a member of the Argyle American Legion Auxiliary and a leader in the Woodland & McCrea 4-H Club. Her faith always came first, and she was a longtime member of Alma Lutheran Church of Argyle.
Doris and Myron went on many trips together. From taking the bullet train between Beijing and Hong Kong and seeing the Great Wall of China to traveling from the Swiss Alps to the (then) Soviet Union, the couple enjoyed their 46 years of marriage, side by side. Back home, they were the North Dakota P.O.L.K.A Club's King and Queen in 1996-1997, and the couple traveled across the region for dances. Myron died on February 22, 1997, leaving Doris widowed for 28 years. Despite this, she always had a smile on her face, a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies on hand, and a hug ready for everyone.
Doris is survived by four children, Karen Benitt, Carol (Thomas) Tulibaski, Dennis (Kyle) Erickson, and Terry (Shelia) Erickson; daughter-in-law, Dawn Erickson (Kevin Donarski); fourteen grandchildren, Kent (Lori), John (Farrah), and Trevor (Tamara) Benitt, Jennifer (Eric) Welin, Tim (Alysa) and Ted (Gina) Tulibaski, Tressa (Scott) Suchor, Rachel (David) Erickson-Schramel, Alyssa (Brian), Heidi, and Dillon (Andee) Erickson, Remi (Robert) Larson, and Shayle Turner; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Albert "Bud" Wimpfheimer; sister-in-law, Marianne Sager, and special friend, Rose Fulton.
In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Allen Erickson; granddaughter, Jamie Erickson; great-granddaughter, Whitney Welin; son-in-law, Roger Benitt; her siblings and their spouses, Emma Stobbe, Annie Langlie, Edith Pederson, Alice Solvik, Dorothy Halsa, Adeline Wimpfheimer, Edwin Wimpfheimer, and Betty Voytilla; and Myron's siblings, Verne and Arnie Erickson, and Marilyn Bennett.
