Doris Hamilton, 74, of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on January 17th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and her hands held by her devoted husband. Born on August 1st, 1951, in Bayou Goula, Louisiana to the late Willie Sr. and Helen Tillman. She lived a life defined by her commitment to education and her unwavering devotion to her family.

After graduating from Southern University, with a Master's plus 30 degree in education, Doris dedicated 33 years to shaping young minds. She spent the majority of her career teaching at West Baton Rouge parish. She was known for her patience, loving, and sweet spirit. (Baton Rouge), stepdaughter Iris Hamilton (Atlanta); Her 4 grandchildren, Calvin, Jamel, Alivia, and Aliyah Hamilton, who were her pride and joy. Her two Godchildren, Jace Hamilton and Earl Sanders. With Deepest Sympathy, I'm heartbroken with the passing of Doris. She always carried herself with grace and elegance which match her character. She was humble and always kind to me. My heart goes out to your family. In such a time as this, know that God is there and he knows your sorrow. It was a blessing to have had her in our lives. Remember that even though she isn't here in the physical, time will never take away the beautiful memories you all made. Hold them close in your hearts. I/We pray for your strength, encouragement and comfort in the love and support of those around you during this difficult time. Love, Sondra Tillman / Mrs. Vernette Smith & Family, GA
