VINTON: Doris M. (Rath) Holst, 87, died Thursday, December 18th, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Visitation will be held at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street, Vinton, IA 52349) Sunday, December 21st, 2025 from 2 to 4 PM. Private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.

Doris was born December 7th, 1938, to Harvey and Clara (Eichenberger) Rath in Kossuth County, Iowa. She graduated from Lone Rock High School in 1956. On October 28th, 1960, she married Leonard Holst at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Doris worked primarily in finance doing clerical and secretarial work, but being a waitress was still one of her favorite jobs. She served for a time as a Deacon of the Presbyterian Church of Vinton.

Doris loved gardening and working in her yard. She liked to bake, play solitaire online, and read through Facebook. Her family and her pets were the most precious things in her life.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Yvette (Frank) Baker of Vinton; her grandchildren, Shelby (Ashley) Baker of Vinton, Jared (Jannette) Baker of Cedar Rapids, Thad (Sarah Peterson) Dulin of Vinton, and Logan Holst of Vinton; her great-grandchildren, Jace, Barrett, Griffin, Hudson, and Camilla Baker; son-in-law, Rick Zimpfer; and daughter-in-law, Karen Ackman.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Clara; her husband, Leonard; her daughter, Yvonne Zimpfer; her sons David and Barry Holst; her brother, Clinton Rath; her sisters, June Weisbrod and Virginia Wegener; and her beloved cat, Bunny.
