Doris Howard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scott Funeral Home on Mar. 17, 2026.
Doris Howard, age 95, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, just one-day shy of her 96th birthday. Born on March 17, 1930, Doris lived a long and meaningful life marked by quiet strength, deep love, and simple joys.

Doris found happiness in the beauty of everyday things. She had a special love for animals, especially her beloved pug, Pumpkin, who brought her endless companionship and comfort. She also cherished flowers, delighting in their colors and fragrances, which reflected her gentle and nurturing spirit.

She dedicated many years of her life to her work at a printing company, where she was known for her diligence and reliability before enjoying a well-earned retirement.

Doris will be dearly missed by her loving family, including her stepchildren, Gary W. Howard (Sandy), David Howard (Beth), and Rhonda Hugues (Phillip); as well as her nephews, Gary Wakefield and Steve Johnson, and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Minnie (Ballard) Johnson; her first husband, Arthur Cox; her second husband, Marion Howard; her brother, Paul L. Johnson; and her sister, Margaret Cryer and step daughter, Barbara Baker.

Doris's warmth, kindness, and quiet grace will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Burial will be at 1:00pm on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, where she will be laid to rest in peace.

Her life was a testament to love, devotion, and the beauty found in life's simplest moments.
