Doris Keleher age 99, of Howard, died on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the Howard Good Samaritan Society. Memorial service will be 2 p.m, Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Beach United Methodist Church in Howard with inurnment at Graceland Cemetery immediately after the service. Visitation will be one hour preceding the service.
Doris Alvina Bamsey was born November 2, 1925 on a farm northwest of Howard, South Dakota to Lorin and Alvina (Sherman) Bamsey. She attended Argonne Consolidated School and graduated in 1943. After graduation, she worked for two and a half years in Washington, D.C. for the FBI during WW2.
On June 29, 1946 she was united in marriage to Patrick Bernard Keleher in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After two years they moved to Miner County and farmed north of Roswell, South Dakota. They retired from farming in 1993 and moved to Howard, South Dakota. Doris was a member of Beach United Methodist Church.
Doris is survived by her children, Shirley (Don) Lager, Sioux Falls, Beverly (Jerry) Deming, Gretna, Nebraska, James (Colleen) Keleher, Springfield, Nebraska, Linda (John) Wagner, Wentworth, South Dakota, Janice (Mike) Morgan, Omaha, Nebraska and Patricia (Mike) Tammen, Wentworth, South Dakota.
She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 39 great- grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Patrick; parents, Aliva and Lorin Bamsey; two brothers, Lorin (Marge) Bamsey and Clair (Effie) Bamsey.
