Doris LiBasci Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Park Funeral Home - Main Chapel on Feb. 28, 2026.
Doris Lydia LiBasci, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026. She was born on January 3, 1938 in Port Washington, New York, lived a life defined by love, devotion, and quiet strength. Above all else, Doris loved her family. They were her heart, her purpose, and her greatest joy.

She was the kind of mother and grandmother who showed her love n steady, practical ways. A warm meal on the table. A carefully mended shirt. A handmade gift stitched with care. Doris had a gift for sewing, and through every hem, and thoughtful repair, she wrapped her family in comfort.

For many years, Doris cleaned homes for others, bringing dignity and pride to her work. She later spent more than 20 years caring for little ones in the nursery at Free Chapel. There, she rocked babies, wiped tears, and offered gentle reassurance to countless families. It was work that fit her tender heart perfectly.

Doris also found happiness in simple pleasures. She loved to read, often getting lost in the pages of a good book. She adored her fur babies, who brought her daily companionship and comfort. Whether sitting with a novel in hand or cuddling a beloved pet, she found peace in the quiet moments.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis LiBasci. Doris often spoke about how much she looked forward to reuniting with him in heaven and remarrying him, holding onto the hope of seeing him again. That promise brought her comfort and strength.

She is survived by her three children, Renee Peters, Patti LiBasci and Joey LiBasci. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Wesli, Levi, Lydia, Joseph, Faith, Cameron, Nathan, Jason, Wayne, and David. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Clara Jane, Margaret, Nicholas, Dustin, Blake, Charlotte, Ray, Reef, Harvey, Olivia, Isabella, Alyiah, and Kyleigh.

Doris's life was not measured in grand gestures, but in steady love, faithful service, and the countless small sacrifices she made without complaint. She leaves behind a family who will carry forward her kindness, her work ethic, and the deep love she gave so freely.

She will be missed beyond words and remembered always.
