As a child I remember visiting Aunt Doris quite often. I was always intrigued by her large collection of "nicknaks" as we called them. Through my years growing up we spent a lot of time together and those are memories I will cherish forever. She was a sweet, soft spoken lady who loved her family and friends. I will always carry a special place in my heart for her.

My Great Aunt Doris was one of a kind. I have very fond memories of countless nights playing Seven hand rummy and Crazy Eights. When I was old enough to appreciate bingo, it was always a treat to watch Doris focus on filling in those little squares. It was even more of a treat to hear her yell "Bingo!", in her soft-spoken voice. I think my cousins would agree that it was always a good time when Doris was out babysitter. Playing pick up sticks, hi ho cherry-o, sharing soda, chips and watching TV with Doris was a joy. As an adult, it was fantastic to sit with Doris and her sister (my grandmother), share a few beers and inevitably break out in laughter as we playfully accused each of cheating at cards. After my grandmother passed, I always enjoyed the times Doris and I would watch Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune as we made fun of the ridiculous answers contestants would give. I will never understand her love of Chuck Norris and Texas Walker Ranger, but I always smile when I see that bearded man and how Doris would blush when I would rib her about her " sexy boyfriend". I am happy that she was able to see different parts of the country thanks to Patti and Dick. And I'm grateful that she was able to spend some time with her brother Larry before she passed. It's hard to imagine my world without Aunt Doris. But as I always said as we parted ways..."I love you Aunt Doris".
