Doris Moses Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, LLC on Mar. 2, 2026.
Doris Beverly Palmer Moses

GENEVA-Doris B. Palmer Moses, age 93, of Geneva, NY, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, at her residence, with her two daughters by her side. Calling hours will be 10-11:30a on March 6, 2026, at Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, Geneva, NY, followed by the funeral service at 11:30a. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

Doris was born December 5, 1932, to the late Harriet Marsh Palmer and Warner Miller Palmer, Sr., in Fayette, NY. She graduated from Geneva High School on June 27, 1950. Doris married Robert E. Ruck (deceased) on September 24, 1955. On August 14, 1970, Doris married the love of her life, Michael Moses, at the Presbyterian Church in Geneva. She was blessed with two daughters, Michele Ruck Downing and Lisa D. Ruck, as well as grandsons Shaun M. Sikes (Xen Gardner) of Walworth, NY and Charles J. Downing (Tracy Mastroianni) and a great-grandson, Dylan W. Downing, all of Chesapeake, VA.

Doris is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Moses, of Cooperstown, PA and her son-in-law, John Bienus, of Pen Argyl, PA along with several wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Doris took great pleasure in surrounding herself with family and always loved family events and reunions. She enjoyed working for 17 years at the GHS cafeteria. Upon her husband Michael's passing on July 11, 1991, she went to work at Mailboxes, Etc. and retired from there in 2004. Doris was an avid volunteer who loved being around people. She started in 1950 as a USO Junior Hostess and singer and always said how much fun that was. Other volunteer times were spent at the Presbyterian Church Strawberry Festival (where she was an over 50 year member), The Winnek Post #396 American Legion Auxiliary (where she was over many years the Secretary, Historian and on the Exec Committee; she enjoyed working the cake booth at festivals), GGH Cardiac Rehab Golf Tournament, Relay for Life, and the Community Lunch Program.

Doris was pre-deceased by her parents, sisters Alma (Carmen) Guerrie, Anna (Richard) Kirby, Alice (George) Livermore, Louise (Francis) Fenner, Kathryn (Frank) Albo, Mary Palmer; brothers Warner (Nina) Palmer, Jr., W. Stanton (Florence) Palmer, Frank (Audrey) Palmer, Bobby Palmer; son Michael J. Moses, daughter Beverly Moses Bienus and grandson-in-law Robert Bakos.

Donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at the Presbyterian Church in Geneva, 24 Park Place, Geneva, NY or to Wounded Warriors.
