In Loving Memory of Doris Evelyn Marthaller Mullens: A Tribute to a Life Well Lived and Deeply Loved.

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother, Doris Evelyn Mullens. She left this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and unwavering strength.

Doris was born on Thursday, March 22, 1934, in Mott, North Dakota, to John and Beatrice Marthaller. One of the eldest among eight children, she grew up during the Dust Bowl years, a time that installed in her resilience, resourcefulness, a deep appreciation for family and community. Her family moved to Washington State in the 1940's for a little while before moving to California.

Doris met the love of her life, James Frank Mullens, a Marine, and they were married in June 1953. Together, Jim and Doris raised three children: Charlene Rose

Mullens (deceased March 2020), Charlotte Marie Mullens (later Busche), and Keith Allen Mullens (deceased May 2025). Doris is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Busche, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great grandchildren.

Doris was a devoted daughter and sibling, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a loyal friend. Her warmth and generosity touched everyone she met, ensuring no one left her home without a smile. She found job in the simple things: gardening and sharing stories. Her favorite book "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn," reflected her own appreciation for perseverance, family bonds, and finding beauty in life's everyday struggles. Her laughter was infectious, her hugs comforting, and her advice always heartfelt and wise.

We remember her strength, her compassion, and the many beautiful moments we shared together. Rest in peace, dear grandma Doris. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten..
