Doris June (Miner) Ostermiller of Saginaw passed away peacefully on June 5, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Doris was born June 30, 1928, in Saginaw, MI to the late Frederick and Beulah Miner of Saginaw. Her husband, John Ostermiller, predeceased her in 1992 after 43 years of marriage.
She is survived by five children and their spouses: Judy (Robert) Moore of Whittemore-Prescott, Laurie (Tim) Hoffman of Saginaw, Carol (Kirk) Wolven of Midland, Linda Birch and special friend Don McCoy, and John (Patti) Ostermiller of Birch Run. Doris also has eight adult grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Doris grew up in Saginaw and went to Alma College for 2 years. She worked at AT&T for several years, then while raising her family worked as a waitress for Sullivan’s East and North for 27 years.
After Sullivan’s she worked with her son until 2019 at The Cobbler’s Bench in Frankenmuth where she was his chief finisher of shoes and leather goods.
She and John would take the kids camping every summer in Caseville and even took the gang to Disneyland in California.
Doris loved to get together with “the girls” Cindy, Marg, Pat and Betty, to play bridge every month. She loved doing ceramics and leather work. She loved going to the movies. She was a voracious reader but most of all she loved to travel. She visited Hawaii at least 5 times and her last travel adventure took her to Alaska…at the age of 94!
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church, 121 Harrison, Saginaw. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate. Luncheon will be held immediately after in the Fellowship Hall.
