COHOES - Doris L. Peat, a lifelong resident of Cohoes, N.Y., passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Cohoes on December 28, 1931, she was the eldest child of the late Delphis J. Erno and Leona LeQue Erno. Doris attended St. Joseph's School in Cohoes and later married the love of her life, Robert Peat, on December 17, 1950. They shared nearly fifty-eight wonderful years of marriage until his passing on December 8, 2008. Doris worked for the NYS Department of State as a clerk and retired in 1997 after 28 years of dedicated service. She also took great pride in tending to her home and creating a warm, welcoming environment for her family. Doris was the proud mother of seven children. Her cherished daughter Karen Brennan passed away in 2001. She is survived by her children: Lynn Peat of Cohoes, Anne (Gerald) Bottieri of Malta, Mark Peat of Wynantskill, James (Gosia) Peat of Troy, Lisa (Thomas) Boivin of Glens Falls, and Stephen Peat of Ballston Spa. She is also survived by her sisters, Joan O'Bomsawin of Troy and Marge Kilmer of Clifton Park. Doris was predeceased by her beloved brothers Lawrence Erno and Francis Erno. Doris found joy in homemaking, cooking, decorating-especially with her collection of roosters-reading magazines, music, gardening, and vacationing in Hampton Beach, NH with her late husband and family. Her numerous grandchildren, Tara, Melissa, Jason, Samantha, Chelsey, Rachel and Graham and great-grandchildren were a constant source of pride and happiness. Funeral services will be held at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 7:30pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:30pm prior to the service. Doris will be remembered for her devotion to family, her gentle spirit, and the warmth she brought into every home and heart she touched. We love you mom and you will forever be in our heart.
